Fishing Reports
July 26, 2010 The Va Beach Invitational wrapped up last night with a great dinner and awards presentation at the Water Table over looking the marina. Thank you to all of the participants for a fantastic weekend! The white marlin fishing and the yellowfin tuna fishing doesn't get much better than what we had this past weekend. All of the activity was up in the Norfolk Canyon...a few boats even went back up there today for that beautiful class of yellowfin tuna (65 pound range). Go get 'em fellas...Good luck! Congratulations to all of the winning teams!! See you next year! July 24, 2010 The 14th Annual Virginia Beach Invitational Marlin Tournament kicked off on Thursday night with 21 boats participating this year. All 21 boats fished on day 1 and the fishing couldn't have been much better! There were 48 white marlin releases, 1 blue marlin, and 1 sailfish. We also had several gaffer dolphin to weigh in up to 40.2 pounds. Most of the action happened up around the Norfolk Canyon. Looks like it could be a really great season for us! Day one results: 1st place- Waterman- 7 releases 2nd place- Sniper- 6 releases 3rd place- Reelin N Dealin- 5 releases 17 out of the 21 boats are fishing today (day 2) and 4 will be eligible to fish on the final day tomorrow. Good luck to all participants!!
June 22, 2010 Looks like Summertime is here...and, I mean, really here! The fishing definitely heated up this past weekend, and the temperatures are still climbing. Can it really get any hotter? My advice if you want to cool off...head offshore and get in on some of the blue marlin action. It's probably a lot cooler 60 miles offshore than it is sitting at the dock. Boats fishing the past several days caught gaffer dolphin and there were several blue marlin releases. All of this has been from the 350 up to about the 470 line. Inshore fishing has also been good with some nice spadefish at the Chesapeake Light Tower. You may want to put that on your "weekday agenda" because I hear it gets really crowded out there on the weekends. Have fun and good luck!! Stay cool :)
May 17, 2010 It's time!! Looks like the yellowfin tuna action is getting started for us. Captain Dave Trax and crew on the "Oblivion" went offshore yesterday and came back in with a dozen yellowfin in the 25 pound range as well as one bluefin. Great job, guys!! The best of it was from the 950 up to the 025. Friday's forecast is looking really good so I'm thinking we may see a few boats head that way for some of this good tuna action. Good luck!! ** Check us out on FACEBOOK (Fisherman's Wharf Marina)
January 5, 2010 HAPPY NEW YEAR! We hope everyone has had a great start to a happy, healthy 2010! Speaking of healthy, why not add some striped bass to your diet :) The striper fishing is great right now, and not only are they fun to catch, they are one of the tastiest fish out there. Boats are catching limits everyday up to 45 + pounds. The action over the past week has been from just outside Rudee Inlet to about 20 miles south of Rudee. The water temperature at Cape Henry is only about 38 degrees, so due to all of this cold weather most boats are fishing south looking for that 42+ degree water. This week boats are gearing up for the Mid Atlantic Rockfish Shootout which takes place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Charter boats are still available for some of the best striped bass fishing on the east coast. Call us today to book your charter. 757-428-2111 Mark your calendar for January 14-17, 2010: 2nd Annual Rockfish Frostbite Challenge www.vafrostbite.com September 24, 2009 Unbelievable! The marlin fishing is as good as it gets right now. Yesterday, 16 boats fished and had a record number of white marlin releases....326 amongst the handful of boats that went out there. The top boat had 41 white marlin releases and 1 blue marlin. Several boats had 25 + releases. Most of them didn't have enough flags to fly on the riggers, but the numbers were obvious by all of the excitement on the docks last night . Several more boats headed out this morning (and last night cause they weren't able to sleep anyways), so we will see what today brings. Unfortunately the weather doesn't look too promising for the next couple of days but hopefully it won't kill the bite. Get out there before it's too late! Good luck and tight lines! September 19, 2009 Marlin fishing has been excellent the past two days which worked out perfectly for the Big Money Open overnight tournament. Nine boats fished the tournament and over 140 billfish were released. The "Canyon Express" was the top boat with 24 white marlin releases. Way to go, guys! The "Friendship" had a blue marlin release and 18 white marlin releases. The "Sniper" caught a grand slam with 1 swordfish release, 16 white marlins, and 1 sailfish. The "Episode" had 18 white marlin releases, and the "Victory Lap" had 16 white marlin releases. Great job to all of the participants! You would never know how tired these guys are by watching all of the excitement down on the docks right now. Unbelievable!! Yesterday, the "Juggernaut" had 11 white releases and the "Oblivion" had 10 white releases. The best of the fishing today and yesterday was on the southeast tip of the Norfolk Canyon. You need to get out there this week to get in on some of the best marlin fishing that Rudee Inlet has seen in years. Good luck! September 15, 2009 Offshore fishing continues to be excellent with several white marlin releases and some nice dolphin. Yesterday, the Tippecanoe released 6 white marlin and 1 blue marlin. Several other boats had 4 white marlin releases including the Sniper and the Gametime. Way to go, fellas! The weather looks promising for the rest of the week as boats prepare for the Big Money Open. Several boats are out today as well. August 31, 2009 The weather was questionable today, but one boat ventured out despite the nasty forecast and it sure was worth it....I was there! We paid for it on the ride in, but the 25 knot Northeast wind didn't seem to phase anyone. The Tippecanoe with Capt. Ernie Bailey ended the day with a GRAND SLAM! Owner, Bob Stanton, took the girls fishing today and released a blue marlin, 2 white marlin and 3 sailfish. Good going and thanks again, Bob! August 23, 2009—Deciding to fish the last day turned out to be good strategy for Hunter. The team released eight billfish, which added to the previous four, shot them into a 1st Place win. Everyone in the Top 5 moved down one place, and all the other standings remained the same. Congratulations to : 1st place "Hunter", 2nd place "Full Draw", 3rd place "Point Runner", 4th place "Big Oh" and 5th place "Penta Gone" August 22, 2009 Junior Anglers Rock the Standings August 22, 2009—Today is the last day of fishing in the 2009 Virginia Beach Billfish Tournament. Eight boats are eligible to fish today: Backlash, Git-R-Done, Hunter, Playmate, Sea Toy, Sea Wolf, Water Dog and Waterman. In order to move into the Top 5, these teams would need to release between five and nine billfish - of course, all it would take is a really big blue…
96 billfish were released yesterday: 2 blue marlin, 13 white marlin and 54 sailfish. Full Draw (the last boat to enter the tournament) currently leads with 10 releases followed by Point Runner (8 on time), Big Oh (8 on time), Penta Gone (8 on time) and Bluewater (8).
The Tuna and Dorado Divisions remained the same, Walker Harrington (15 years old) fishing aboard Smoker took over the lead in the Wahoo Division with his 42.8 lb. wahoo.
The current Top Overall Angler is Tommy Barton IV (9 years old) fishing aboard Git-R-Done with 4 sailfish releases, the Top Lady is Tricia Neill on Healthy Grin with 3 sailfish releases and Walker and Tommy hold the Top Junior positions in Gamefish & Billfish respectively.
August 21, 2009 VBBT News: 103 Billfish Released, Big Oh Leads August 21, 2009—The sails showed up yesterday in what turned out to be a beautiful day at sea. Of the 103 billfish released, 85 were sailfish and the rest white marlin. Big Oh leads with five releases, on time, followed by Bluewater (5), Tippecanoe (5), Full Draw (5) and Caroline (4). The leading dolphin was also caught by Big Oh (52.1 lbs.), Jabez leads in the Tuna Division with a 17.8 lb. yellowfin and Canyon Express leads in Wahoo with a 39.4-pounder.

Fishing days are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and boats have the option of fishing any 2 of the 3 days. Boats that fished offshore over the weekend saw good numbers of white marlin and some nice gaffer dolphin. Most of the activity was on the 200 line in about 30-50 fathoms. On Saturday, "Victory Lap" had 4 white marlin releases and all of the others boats had 2 releases each. Sunday, "Teddy Bear " had 3 white releases. Way to go! Charter boats are available if you want to get in on some of the white marlin action as well as for inshore fishing for spanish mackerel. It looks like the marlin are here just in time for the kickoff of tournament season. The Virginia Beach Tuna Tournament wraps up today with a record number of boats and prize money payout. Give us a call for details and to book your trip. 757-428-2111 July 1, 2009 Offshore fishing is still going strong with the yellowfin tuna, bigeye tuna, bluefin tuna, and gaffer dolphin. Most of the action is near the 350 line and the past couple of days has brought a nicer class of fish than what we have been seeing. You really need to get out there so that you will have plenty of fish for your 4th of July cookouts. The weather is looking great for the next few days. Inshore fishing is great as well with good catches of spadefish, spanish mackerel, sheepshead, cobia, and bluefish. Charter boats are available to get you out there. Give us a call @ 757-428-2111 to book your private charter. June 25, 2009 As I post this fishing report, I am still trying to get over the "high" from yesterday. I actually got offshore early in the season and experienced the best fishing that I have been part of in a long time. We ended the day with a 163 pound big eye tuna, 4 yellowfin tuna in the 40 pound range, a couple of gaffer dolphin, several small yellowfin releases, and a 150 pound mako shark release. Every time I lift my arm up, I am reminded of our wonderful day out there.... they kept me busy all day, and my arms are killin me! I am sure the pain will go away long before the tuna runs out :) Thanks to the crew on the "Victory Lap" for ruining me so early in the season... let's go fishin!! Anyway, the weather looks good for the next several days, the fishing truly couldn't be better, so get your crew together and get out there before it is too late. I can now really tell you that it is well worth it! The best bite yesterday was right around the 350 line. We have several boats offshore today, so come down and check them out. There is a lot of excitement around here that you shouldn't miss. Good luck and tight lines! Charter boats are still available, so give us a call to book your trip. 757-428-2111 June 23, 2009 The offshore forecast is looking really good for the next several days and I have noticed several boats gearing up to head out there. The yellowfin tuna fishing has been unreal for the past 10 days or so. The weekend found most of the fleet from the 300-400 line and the tuna fishing has been as good as I've seen it in a while. There has been non-stop action throughout the day with a lot of smaller fish, but plenty of keepers in the mix averaging about 30 pounds, and as large as 60+ pounds. Charter boats are available to take you out there for the time of your life. Give us a call (757) 428-2111 to arrange your trip. Inshore boats have been doing well with the spadefish, mackerel, cobia and sheepshead. Half day and full day inshore trips are available and are great for families with small children. June 15, 2009 We had some really good offshore action over the weekend! Boats that headed north to the Norfolk Canyon had excellent catches of yellowfin tuna. Each boat had from 1-2 dozen yellowfin tuna with a few dolphin in the mix. The "Blue Eyed Suns" with Capt. David Smith weighed in a 180# big eye tuna as well. Way to go, Dave! Inshore, boats are catching cobia, spadefish, spanish mackerel, sheepshead, bluefish and flounder. Trips are available for inshore or offshore fishing. Call 757-428-2111 to book your trip! June 10, 2009 We had one boat go offshore today and he ended up with an excellent catch of yellowfin tunas. The "Oblivion" with Captain Dave Trax fished in the Norfolk Canyon and caught 15 yellowfin tuna to start our season off. Several boats are scheduled to go out this weekend, and after hearing about this report, I am sure several more will follow. The weather seems to be holding up for both days, but as of right now, Sunday looks like the prettier day. Hopefully today's tuna fishing is the start of a really good season. Boats fishing inshore have several options right now. Some spanish mackerel are off the beach. The cobia have shown up in good numbers around some area buoys. The spadefish are at the tower and on the reefs. And, the sheepshead and flounder are in the Bay near the C.B.B.T. Charter boats are still available for inshore and offshore fishing. Call 757-428-2111 to book your trip. May 28, 2009 The 2009 season has gotten off to a great start! Boats that fished over the Memorial Day weekend, caught limits of gaffer dolphin (and I'm talkin some nice fish!) , a few mako and some yellowfin tuna. There were also a couple of blue marlin in the mix. Most of the action happened on the 950 line, but the fish are moving closer by the day. With the price of fuel still down, it's time to grab your crew, stock the boat, and get in on some of the action. The buffalo dolphin fingers make it well worth the trip! The weather is looking very promising for the weekend. Good luck, have fun, and tight lines! Charter boats are still available, and by the way it looks, all of you could go home with a cooler full. Give us a call to book your trip! 757-428-2111 January 16, 2000 The Inaugural Frostbite Challenge kicked off today with 45 boats registered. For more information on the tournament, visit their website at www.vafrostbite.com. Several boats got out today despite the cold, cold weather and had great catches of rockfish. It sounded like there was a pretty good bite from just below the Sandbridge pier up to Dam Neck. During the late afternoon, the bite really turned on off of Dam Neck and boats were catching their limits pretty quick. Good luck to all the anglers participating in the tournament. Stay warm and safe! Have a great weekend! Charter boats are still available to take you out there for the winter striper (rockfish) season. Give us a call to book your trip. 757-428-2111 December 11, 2008 Seasons greetings! The dredging at the marina took place over the past couple of months and the marina is now 8' deep at MLW. They just finished the project and we are now officially ready for the winter rockfish season. The activity around the marina is picking up and the excitment is starting to show. There have been some fish caught at Cape Henry and there are still some big fish in the bay so we should have a great season ahead of us. Charter boats are still available for striper fishing...what a great gift for the fisherman in your life. Give us a call to book your trip 757-428-2111. Have a wonderful holiday season! October 14, 2008 The "Canyon Express" fished today and had an excellent day offshore. They caught 7 wahoo up to 41 pounds, a couple of yellowfin tuna, and a couple of dolphin. Great job! Capt. Greg said they had several other wahoo bites and is going to try it again on Wednesday. The weather is supposed to be beautiful the next couple of days, but unfortunately is going to change for the weekend. Tomorrow, we have a few other boats scheduled to go offshore as well. Good luck! Charter boats are still available for fall tuna and wahoo fishing as well as winter striper season. Call to book your trip today. 757-428-2111 September 30, 2008 The wind finally slowed down enough to get boats out for the overnight fishing tournament, The Big Money Open. There were a handful of swordfish caught last night, several dolphin, a few tunas and several white marlin releases. The "Episode" released 5 white marlin up in the Washington Canyon and added a swordfish, a tuna, and several dolphin to their fish box. The "Canyon Express" released a swordfish, a white marlin and also had several dolphin. We are still waiting on the last of the boats to come in including the "Day Tripper" who has 2 swordfish to weigh in. It looks like we will have a few boats fishing tomorrow as well so hopefully the weather and the fishing will hold up for them. Charter boats are available for the fall and winter seasons. Give us a call to book your trip. 757-428-2111
September 15, 2008 We had a handful of boats fish on Sunday and the marlin fishing is still going strong. The "Sniper" released 5 white marlin and the "Southern Belle" released 2 white marlin and each had some good dolphin fishing as well. Great job! After the rough weather gets out of here, plenty more white marlin should be headed our way. There was a report that the boats north of us had hundreds of white marlin up there... hopefully moving south for us. Get ready for all of that action. Charter boats are still available and next week could be some really great fishing. 757-428-2111
September 13, 2008 Several boats fished offshore today and caught white marlin (2 per boat average), several dolphin, a few yellowfin tuna...yep, they do still exist, and a very nice wahoo. Curtis White weighed a 54.9 pound wahoo that he caught aboard the "Victory Lap". Great job, Curtis. The "Canyon Express" had 2 beautiful ( 40# range) yellowfin tuna along with a bunch of dolphin and 2 white marlin releases. Hopefully those tuna are the start of some good fall fishing out of Virginia Beach. The "Wired Up" and the "High Hopes" also had 2 white marlin releases and some dolphin. Way to go, guys! We do have a few boats that are scheduled to fish tomorrow, so I'll keep you updated.
Septmember 12, 2008 We had 3 boats fish offshore today and a total of 21 white marlin releases. Wow! The charter boat "High Hopes" and the charter boat "Git R Done" each had 6 releases and the charter boat "Canyon Express" had 9 releases. Great job, fellas! There was also some good dolphin fishing mixed in there as well. All of this phenomenal billfish action that we have had lately has been in the Norfolk Canyon or just above the Canyon. Several boats are out today so we're hoping to see a bunch of flags flying in Rudee Inlet this evening. Stay tuned..... Charter boats are available for you to get in on some of this incredible marlin fishing. Give us a call to book your trip. 757-428-2111
September 5, 2008
Marlin fishing has been unbelievable for the past week. Boats that have been offshore this week have had up to 20 white marlin releases and a box load of dolphin. The best of the fishing started above the Canyon on the 630 line but has since moved down to the 450 line. We'll see what this storm does and probably get some boats out there on the next pretty day. The talk on the dock is that the marlin fishing could be just as good after Hannah blows through here. We'll keep you posted. Charter boats are still available for some fall fishing. Give us a call to book your trip 757-428-2111.
August 30, 2008 Offshore fishing was "back on" today after several days of rough weather. Most boats headed north and the best of the fishing seemed to have been on the north wall of the Norfolk Canyon. Several white marlin and a couple of blue marlin were released along with a really good dolphin bite. Congratulations to the crew on the "Canyon Express" for releasing 3 white marlin.....way to go! The forecast for tomorrow looks much better than it did earlier in the week so hopefully we will get some boats back up there before the wind picks back up. I'm thinkin' a grand slam is waiting up there for you. Good luck, be safe and enjoy the Labor Day weekend! August 18, 2008 Good morning! The Wine, Women and Fishing Tournament that took place over the weekend was a tremendous success. Thirty two teams entered the event and a lot of money was raised for the EVMS breast cancer research program. Great job to Jennie Capps, Paige Ray and their "helpers" for a job well done! Now for the fishing...the marlin fishing was pretty good up around the 450 line (50 fathoms) as well as the dolphin fishing. The charter boat "Git R Done" spent the night out there on Saturday night and came home with a load of dolphins and three white marlin flags flying. Way to go, Captain Trick! Also, Congratulations to Captain Greg Span and the ladies on the "Canyon Express" for placing first in the tournament with a blue marlin and a sailfish release. The "Gannet" came in second with 3 white marlin releases and the "Blue Eyed Suns" came in third with a blue marlin release. Congratulations to both of these teams of ladies and Capt. Kurt Ward on the "Gannet" and Captain David Smith on the "Blue Eyed Suns". Everyone is gearing up for the Virginia Beach Billfish Tournament which kicks off on Wednesday (August 20th). As of this morning, 69 teams are registered and Rudee Inlet is going to come to life mid week. If you are interested in entering, you should act now because there is a 75 boat limit. www.vbbt.com (757) 652-8409 See you under the tent! August 10, 2008 Offshore fishing has been good the past several days, but not quite as active as earlier in the month. Boats that have ventured out have caught white marlin, blue marlin, and a few dolphin. Congratulations to Phil Myers for releasing a blue marlin on the "Miss Behaven". Saturday was a big day for 12 year old Jared Bastian on the "Double Down" as well. He released a blue marlin, and add that to his sailfish from last week and his white marlin release from '06, he can now say that he has caught a "grand slam" at age 12. I'm not too sure that many can say that at such a young age. Way to go, Jared!
Photo-- taken aboard the "Miss Behaven" August 2, 2008 Several boats fished offshore today and caught some nice dolphin and had some billfish action as well. The charter boat "High Hopes" released 3 white marlin, "Good Grief" released 2 whites, and "Git R Done", "Wired Up", "Wahoo", "Friendship" and "All Girls" all released 1 white marlin. Great job! "Double Down" released a sailfish caught by 12 year old Jarred Bastian....his first one, and, yep he took a swim in Rudee Inlet when they got back in. Way to go, Jarred! According to just about everyone that I spoke to this evening, it got a little rough this afternoon and combined with the number of boats out there, fishing was a little tougher today than the past few days but there are still plenty of fish up near the Canyon. Once again, good luck to everyone fishing in the White Marlin Open next week!
August 1, 2008 Offshore fishing was, once again, excellent the past few days. Boats that fished up north (500 line) had a lot of excitement with multiple white marlin releases. Thursday, "Canyon Express" released 4 white marlin. Today, "High Hopes" released 3 whites, "Sniper" released 10 whites, no that is not a typo, and "Miss Behaven" released 4 whites. Great job, guys! If you think these boats are good lookin', you should see them rolling in with all of those flags flying....beautiful! This weekend several boats will be heading up to Ocean City, MD to compete in the White Marlin Open. Good luck! If fishing stays the way it has been the past couple of days, it should be an interesting week. Charter boats are still available for inshore and offshore fishing. Give us a call to book your trip. 757-428-2111 July 30, 2008 Marlin fishing is still going strong and the best of it seems to be up above the 450 line from 30 to 50 fathoms. Boats are seeing plenty of white marlin and catching some nice gaffer dolphin as well. We'll try to keep you posted throughout the weekend on the top boats of the day (If boats fish on Friday, those results will be posted on Saturday).
Inshore, the spanish mackerel and taylor blues are still very plentiful. This is a great trip if you just want to get out on the water for a couple of hours. These fish are a lot of fun to catch. Book your inshore trip today while the fishing is this good.

There were several bluefin tuna weighed in, some dolphin, and a couple of wahoo. Bluefin were caught at the 26 mile hill, the hotdog, and the fingers. There is one more day for the tournament with approx. 25 boats eligible to fish. As of today, the "Big Head" with Capt. Joe Dobson (out of Fisherman's Wharf Marina) is leading the tournament. Good job and good luck, Joe! A couple of boats that were not fishing the tuna tournament went south looking for billfish and the best of the marlin fishing was from the 100 to the 150 line in about 30 fathoms. The "Wahoo" released a sailfish and saw several white marlin balling bait throughout the day. Way to go! July 7, 2008
July 7, 2008 Offshore fishing is still going strong and boats are catching bluefin tuna, dolphin, and white and blue marlin. July 4, 2008 Happy 4th of July!!! Offshore marlin fishing doesn't get much better than what we had yesterday. South of here from the 030 to the 050, there were several white marlin and a couple of blue marlin and sailfish mixed in. The "Sniper" caught and released 2 white marlin, a blue marlin, and a sailfish for the first grand slam out of Rudee Inlet this year. The white marlin were caught by anglers Adam Hebbard and Colin Slater, the blue was caught by Patrick Slater II, and the sail was caught by Patrick Slater III. Way to go, guys! The "All Girls" also had a great day of marlin fishing releasing 2 white marlin caught by anglers John Jackson a.k.a. Dr. J. and Sean Cambell....good going, guys! The bluefin tuna fishing is still going strong at the 26 mile hill and the hot dog. There have also been some king mackerel and dolphin mixed in with bluefin. The charter boat "High Hopes" has had several good days of bluefin tuna fishing this week, and several private boats have gotten in on some of the action as well. Inshore, there are plenty of bluefish and spanish mackerel along the oceanfront and spadefish out at the Chesapeake Light Tower. I have also received reports that there are some tautog, sheepshead, flounder, and croaker at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. Charters are still available for offshore and inshore fishing. Call to book your trip. 757-428-2111 Have a great holiday!
June 30, 2008 Most of the offshore action this past weekend was at the 26 mile hill where bluefin tuna up to 90 pounds, king mackerel and dolphin were caught. There were also some dolphin caught in the Norfolk Canyon. Congratulations to Wayne Enroughty for registering a 32 1/2 pound dolphin caught aboard the "Warrior" with Captain Joe Woodington. The "Strokin" did some deep dropping in the Canyon last week as well and registered a gray tilefish caught by angler Lewis Graves. Good job, Lewis! Inshore fishing has been good along the oceanfront where anglers are catching spanish mackerel and tailor blues. The Chesapeake Light Tower as well as the islands of bridge tunnel have been a good spot for the spadefish action. July 4th weekend is rapidly approaching and would be a great time to take the family out fishing. Call us to book your trip 757-428-2111.
June 25, 2008 A few boats went offshore today and we actually had a lot of ground covered. The "High Hopes" went north and caught bluefin tuna (up to 88 pounds), dolphin, and king mackerel. The "Double Down" and the "Canyon Express" were south (below the 000) and had some real good billfish action. Capt. Billy reported that they released a 350+ pound blue marlin and had another blue on that was in the 500 pound range. I have heard of atleast a dozen fish estimated at 500+ pounds so this should be an interesting tournament season. The "Strokin" fished in the Canyon deep dropping for black bellied rose fish, tilefish, grouper and sea bass and also had a very successful day. Way to go!
Charter boats are still available to get in on some of our great offshore or inshore fishing. Give us a call to book your trip (757) 428-2111. June 22, 2008 Happy summer! Congratulations to Capt. Trick, Ronnie, and the entire crew fishing on the "Git R Done"! The 2nd annual tournament was a success and it looked like everyone caught fish and had a great time. Great job to everyone involved! June 18, 2008 Good morning! I just got off of the phone with a fella that gave me an update on "our" boats that are fishing the Hatteras Marlin Club tournament. Rumor has it that two boats from Rudee Inlet (I'll release the names when the tournament gets closer to the end cause I don't want to jinx them) are in the lead down there.....first place going into day 3 has a blue marlin and a sailfish release, and second place has a blue marlin release. (Hint: both boats fish out of Fisherman's Wharf Marina) Good job to the crew on these two boats! Today is the unofficial tournament lay day so I won't get another report until Thursday evening and the majority of the boats still have 3 days of fishing. Good luck to all!
June 16, 2008 Once again, Sunday brought some great offshore fishing our way. We had a few boats fish yesterday and several gaffer dolphin were caught along with some billfish action. The "Billable Ours" heard of several billfish reports in the deep, but moved slightly inshore to catch some meatfish and ended up hooking a nice blue marlin. Trick said he did a fabulous job......congratulations , Austin! The "Warrior" came back yesterday from an overnight trip with 2 white marlin flags flying. Good going to Joe and his crew! If you are thinking of taking an offshore trip, now is the time to go. Give us a call for all of the details. 757-428-2111 June 15, 2008 Once again, Happy Father's Day to all of the dad's out there. Most of the offshore action was on the 200 line and has been pretty much all week. The "Keyed Up" went deep dropping and had a nice assortment of fish including several black bellied rose fish. Good job to all who ventured out there today! Give us a call to get in on some of the action.757-428-2111
June 14, 2008 Offshore and inshore fishing have been fantastic the past two days. Boats fishing offshore have caught numbers of gaffer dolphin and there have been several blue marlin sightings as well. I just hung up the phone with a very excited 8 year old that went offshore with his family yesterday and caught a citation dolphin that weighed 25.1 pounds. He was fishing on the "Petrel" just east of the Cigar area. Way to go, Colby and once again, congratulations! Colby's cousin, Nelson, also registered a very "healthy" citation dolphin that weighed 48 pounds. That is a slob! Great job, Nelson! The charter boat "Git R Done" has been offshore a few days this week and has come home with a beautiful catch of gaffer dolphin each day. Great job to all who got out there and got to enjoy some of Virginia Beach's wonderful fishing! Inshore, the spanish mackerel fishing has been great along the oceanfront. The charter boat "High Hopes" fished inshore the past couple of days and had a box full each day. Way to go! June 10, 2008 Today we had one boat fish inshore, and they had an awesome catch of spanish mackerel. Looks like it is that time of year for the spanish mackerel to be numerous right off the beach. The charter had a great time and took home a bunch of fish. This is a really fun trip and is great for anyone including families with small children. Call to book your private charter today while the fishing is "hot".....757-428-2111.
June 9, 2008 Several boats went offshore over the weekend and all had some great catches. The "Reelin N Dealin" caught and released an estimated 500 pound blue marlin as well as some dolphin. Other boats had yellowfin tuna and dolphin and there were a few billfish spotted. We had one boat spend the night on Saturday night, and I think when they named the boat they were thinking about tunas......the "Just One More" came in around 11:00am on Sunday morning with a box full of yellowfin. What a catch! A first overnight trip for some of them, but I guarantee you it won't be their last. Seven year old, Taylor, is probably already planning the next trip for Capt. Frank. June 7, 2008 We have several boats fishing offshore today, and I just received a report from one of the boats that spent the night out there last night. They reported catching an estimated 80 pound swordfish and a nice catch of yellowfin tuna. Good going guys! The boats that fished today had catches of yellowfin tuna and the "Jesus Freak" released the first white marlin out of the marina this season. That beautiful new Judge Yacht looks great with a white marlin flag on the rigger. Way to go, David!
